The Tyranny of Unspoken Words

Posted by CC on June 30, 2012

Dr. Mitch CarnellOn the first of our summer services, we were honored to have Dr. Mitch Carnell speak to us. His message, The Tyranny of Unspoken Words, was an inspiring reminder of how much our words, or lack of them, can mean to people.

So that you can become better acquainted with Mitch, our book suggestions this week are his catalog of eBooks by Mitch Carnell available from Amazon.com. In addition to eBooks, there are paper editions available as well and they available directly from the author as well as other sources.

The Margins of Marriage

Posted by CC on June 12, 2012

Standing on the Side of LoveMany feel that same sex-marriage, in the parlance of our day, is a “no-brainer.” However, despite the great strides that are being made and the barriers that are being removed, the issue is obviously still one of great anxiety and consequence. Though he suspects he will be preaching to the choir, so to speak, Rev. Reed will offer his views on the subject. This service was delivered on June 10, 2012.

The Man Behind The Curtain

Posted by CC on June 8, 2012

In the popular musical “Wicked,” the Wizard (of Oz), defending his phony powers, sings: “Then suddenly I’m here, Respected – worshipped, even, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the WestJust because the folks in Oz, Needed someone to believe in.” What about us, must we seek transcendence? Do we need someone, something, to believe in?

This sermon, from June 3, 2012, was delievered by the Reverend Danny Ray Reed. Please note that the previous sermon was not recorded due to technical difficulties.

Just for the fun of it, our book reading this week is “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maquire, the book upon which the musical Reverend Reed went to is based.
